BLACK WALNUT CAFÉ SET

It is always a shame when an old tree needs to come down, but due to a dangerous lean and old age this black walnut had to go from this Monte Vista front yard. Fortunately, it was headed for the kiln rather than the landfill. The homeowner, who owns a local bakery, commissioned Studio Lingo to design a café set to be replicated as a series to fill her seating area.

For efficient use of the generous yield, large slabs and crosscuts are reserved for the tabletops and seats respectively, while offcuts are meticulously laminated and joined to form the legs and rails.
