In a unique progression, Robert was fortunate to lead this project from concept design through final construction documents while working as a Designer at Lake Flato Architects, as well as oversee its construction after transitioning to a Superintendent position at Troy Jessee Construction, several years before moving on to launch Studio Lingo.
The original home, designed in 1952 by architect O’Neil Ford, sat on a deep, narrow corner lot. When presented with the opportunity to purchase the neighboring property in 2016, the homeowner decided to expand. With careful respect to the existing design, a new living wing including a family room, office, and additional sleeping suite was added toward the front of the property, completely redefining the entry sequence. The new wing conceals a large, private courtyard flanked at the rear by a new carport. Once a perfect match for the original 1950s Mexican brick was sourced, a seamless tie-in was executed that is often mistaken as being part of the original home.
